Richard has been providing advice and guidance to wealthy families and foundations since 1988.
As a Founding Partner and Managing Director of Altair Advisers, Richard’s role includes client service, business development and firm management. He also oversees the firm’s legal and regulatory matters.
Prior to launching Altair, Richard was a Principal with Arthur Andersen. He joined Andersen in 1997 to help spearhead the growth of its Investment Advisory Services practice. Andersen sought the experience Richard had gained while an investment consultant with Performance Analytics serving pensions, endowments and foundations with up to $1 billion in assets. He developed skills in financial analysis and banking while in the Private Banking groups of Continental Bank and The Boston Company where he was a Vice President.
Richard’s extensive experience has twice earned him a place among Worth magazine’s Top Wealth Advisors. He has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Worth Magazine and has appeared on Bloomberg Financial News.
Richard is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certificant and a member of the Illinois Bar.
Richard graduated from Kenyon College cum laude with Distinction in Political Science and International Relations. He also holds a JD from Chicago – Kent College of Law.
Richard is a member of the Professional Advisory Committee of the Chicago Community Trust. He serves on the Board of Pilgrim Lutheran Foundation and is a Board member of Meals on Wheels in Chicago. Richard is a founding partner of the Chicago chapter of Social Venture Partners.
Richard and his wife Diane, along with their son and daughter, reside in Chicago’s Ravenswood Manor neighborhood.
